Hallucinogen Addiction

Hallucinogens Rehab Treatment

The term hallucinogens, also called ‘psychedelics’, refers to a diverse category of drugs that includes mushrooms, LSD (acid), mescaline, MDMA, ketamine, psilocybin, PCP, salvia, and others. Addicts’ experiences with hallucinogens vary widely, but common effects include distortion of the senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell, and mood. Effects of hallucinogens, notably LSD and MDMA (ecstasy), are often intense and unpredictable.

As the leading substance abuse program on the east coast, we provide our clients with the most progressive therapies known in addiction medicine today. We can help you or the person you care about stop using hallucinogens and live a healthier, sober lifestyle.

Hallucinogen Abuse

The addictive properties of hallucinogens are not like other drugs. Although some hallucinogens such as ketamine can cause physical dependency, others such as LSD do not. If you spend increasingly more time thinking about or doing drugs — and you find yourself ignoring important responsibilities, lying or feeling ashamed about your actions when high — you may have a substance abuse problem.

You may have a substance abuse problem even if you do not suffer from any physical withdrawal symptoms. True chemical dependencies on hallucinogenic drugs are rare – for this reason, treating addiction often requires making broader lifestyle changes in addition to coping with the psychological desire to continue using. If a loved one or friend is abusing hallucinogens, we will help them regain control of their life and leave their addiction behind.

Dual Diagnosis Hallucinogens Rehab

Hallucinogens affect the brain’s ability to regulate mood through serotonin, causing severe problems or dissociation in individuals with preexisting psychological conditions such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Our medical team has the resources to properly treat these dual diagnosis clients, both through psychological counseling and holistic therapy options offering an alternative to drug use.
