Heroin Addiction

Heroin Rehab at Clarity Way

In part because of the drug’s prevalence in popular culture, heroin is one of the most frightening addictions that can be faced by a friend or loved one. If someone you care about is abusing heroin, our rehab center can help. Clarity Way specializes in holistic treatment that gives clients the tools they need to live a drug-free life. In our flexible, multi-disciplinary treatment program, we work with our clients to improve their physical, mental, and emotional health.

About Heroin Abuse

As of 2011, an estimated 4.2 million Americans have tried heroin. While this number may seem small, the more frightening statistic is that of those who experiment with the drug, 23% become dependent on it. Heroin is a highly addictive synthetic opioid that users quickly develop a tolerance to – this tolerance leads to users increasing their dosage, which in turn can lead to a potentially fatal overdose.

Heroin Health Risks

Aside from the threat of addiction and overdose, heroin users face a number of associated health risks. These include the spread of infectious diseases (including hepatitis C and HIV) caused by needle sharing, heart, liver and kidney diseases, collapsed veins, and malnutrition. Because of these risks, it is essential that heroin rehab begins as quickly as possible – the addictive nature of the drug coupled with its potentially fatal health effects means giving an addict time to quit on their own is not an option.

Medically Supervised Detox Facilities

Medical supervision during the detox phase of heroin rehab is essential. Withdrawal can include nausea, vomiting, aches and pains, fever and more, and can last as long as a week, with symptoms peaking between one and three days after cessation. At Clarity Way, our team of medical experts provides dedicated 24-hour support throughout the detox process, helping clients manage withdrawal symptoms and preparing them for our inpatient rehab program.

Support for Dual Diagnosis Clients

It is not uncommon for clients in our heroin rehab program to suffer from a psychological disorder at the same time they struggle with addiction. This is what is known as a “dual diagnosis,” and it can include anything from bipolar disorder to chronic depression. Clarity Way’s heroin rehab center can provide specialized support for dual diagnosis clients, including consultation sessions with our clinical director and psychiatric team to assess medication and other safe treatment options.

A WORD FROM OUR CLIENTS Hear more about how we've enabled our clients to move forward from addiction towards the path of recovery.

“When we sent our son to treatment, we still didn't know exactly what to expect from the entire process. Through our experience with Clarity Way, we learned how much more there is to being 'in recovery' than simply going through a 30-day rehab program. Clarity Way helped prepare our son for what life would be like after treatment, the struggles he would face and helped give him the tools to work through the future issues that would naturally arise. They also worked with him to create an aftercare plan that had clear, firm goals in place to work toward after leaving he program. I think that having this plan in place helped him tremendously, especially in his early days after treatment. I'm so proud to say that our son is still sober today, followed through with all of his post-treatment plans and finally understands for himself what living life 'in recovery' is truly about.”
